Bio (Longer Version)
Born and raised in Nigeria, I moved to Canada at 16 to study at the University of Manitoba, earning a BSc in Biotechnology (Joint Major in Microbiology & Analytical Chemistry). My passion for research led me to specialize in Molecular Biotechnology, where I explored complex microbial genetics.
I began my career in Quality Control, Food Microbiology, and Analytical Chemistry, applying research-driven problem-solving skills in laboratory setting before transitioning into Supply-chain Biotechnology in 2021 (Vancouver, BC). This shift exposed me to user experience challenges, workflow inefficiencies, and system usability gaps, sparking my interest in Product Design. I completed some online courses late 2023 - early 2024, then shortly after completed the UX/UI program at the University of Toronto in spring 2025. Additionally, I completed the professional certificate in Effective people management at Royal Roads University in Fall 2025.
Beyond academic and professional work, I’m passionate about fitness, health, nutrition, beauty/fashion, and continuous learning.
Design Process
My design process is intuitive, shaped by years of experience in customer support, supply chain operations, and scientific research. I approach design with a natural sense of empathy and a focus on understanding the full user journey—not just how they interact with a product, but everything that drives their decisions. I start by immersing myself in the user’s perspective, mapping out what they think, feel, say, and do while engaging with a product. Through research, I uncover factual insights into the positive and negative aspects of their experience.
From there, I define the problem, ensuring that I’m addressing the real challenge, not just surface-level frustrations. I then move into ideation and design, creating solutions that prioritize usability and accessibility. Once a design is in place, I gather feedback, test, and iterate until the solution is user-focused—not Runor-focused.
Self Reflection
I believe great work starts with self-awareness. I regularly reflect on my strengths, blind spots, and areas for improvements. In 2025, I specifically used tools like EQ-i 2.0 and CliftonStrengths, along with general feedback. This practice helps me grow with intention, and approach changes/challenges with clarity and objectivity.
My strongest assets are my drive to achieve and habit of thinking deeply. I tend to analyze, reflect, and gather perspective before moving forward. I naturally set high standards for myself and feel most grounded when I’m working toward something meaningful. Paired with strong emotional self-awareness and a sense of responsibility.
I’ve learned that many of my challenges are interconnected. When I overcommit or don’t leave enough buffer in my workload, my stress tolerance drops, which affects how clearly I problem-solve and how confidently I assert my perspective. My independence and desire to be helpful can sometimes lead me to carry more than I should, rather than sharing ownership or asking for support early.
I’m strengthening my stress tolerance by designing supportive working conditions for myself, including rest and catch-up slots in my calendar, a two-day rule with one day of grace, and mindfulness and journaling practices. I’m prioritizing support by asking for help earlier, sharing responsibility, and letting go of perfection. I’m also actively practicing assertiveness, speaking up respectfully and recognizing that sharing my perspective is essential to contributing to positive change and a better future.
